RT Journal Article T1 Granates de la serie Grosularia-uvarovita en cromititas prodiformes del yacimiento Mercedita (Cuba) T1 Grossular-uvarovite garnets in podiform chromitite from Mercedita deposit (Cuba) A1 Proenza, Joaquín A. A1 Melgarejo i Draper, J. C. AB The Mercedita chromite podiform deposit is genetically and spatially related to the Moa-Baracoa ophiolite complex (NW Cuba). The ore bodies are crosscuted by veins, filled up by uvarovite with variable amounts of chromiferous clinochlore , calcite, titanite and rutile. Garnets are zoned and display a broad composition comprised between uvarovite and grossular end members. Their andradite content is very low. These garnets were formed by hydrothermal circulation during late episodes of ophiolite emplacement.
