AB Este artículo se ocupa del fenómeno contemporáneo de los “nuevospopulismos” y trata de esclarecer la lógica que comparten las correspondientesformaciones políticas. A tal fin, en primer lugar se exploran los orígeneshistóricos del populismo en los albores de la primera globalización. Ensegundo lugar, se analiza la confusión populista actual a partir de la contraposiciónde “ciudadano” y “súbdito”, así como del concepto de representaciónparlamentaria. Por último, se compara la tradición republicana de defensa dela política con la idiocia –en sentido griego– tanto del neoliberalismo como delos nuevos populismos y sus diversas manifestaciones
AB This paper deals with the contemporary phenomenon whichthe concept “new populisms” refers to and examines the logic shared bythe corresponding political formations. Firstly, I explore the historic originsof populism in the dawn of globalization. Secondly, the current populistconfusion is analysed through the contrast between the figure of the citizenand that of the subject, as well as from the point of view of parliamentaryrepresentation. Lastly, I compare the republican defence of politics and theidiocy –in the Greek sense of the term– both of neoliberalism and of newpopulism and its many manifestations
