RT Journal Article T1 Primeros resultados de huellas de fisión en apatito en el sector Lugo-Ancares (Noroeste de la Península Ibérica) T1 Preliminary apatite fission-track results in the Lugo-Ancares region (Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula) A1 Capote, Ramón A1 Barbero, Luis A1 Insua Arevalo, Juan M. A1 Martínez Díaz, J. J. A1 Martín González, Fidel AB The Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula is characterised by the absence of Mesozoic sedimentary deposits, the Cenozoic sediments being scarce. Due to that, the chronology of the geological events in the area isdifficult to establish. Nevertheless, in the absence of deposits during a certain time span, the thermalhistory a particular area during that time-elapse could have been recorded in previous materials. Modellingof the apatite fission-track (AFT) data is a powerful tool to infer geological information in this kind ofregions. The tectonothermal history observed in the AFT models begins with the intrusion of the lateVariscan granitic plutons and their cooling in the upper crustal levels. After this initial event, three mainepisodes have been identified. The first involves an important heating during the Upper Jurassic and EarlierCretaceous, which can be related to the evolution of the Atlantic passive margin. The second heatingepisode can be connected to the beginning of the Europe-Africa collision during the Upper Cretaceousand the Earlier Palaeogene. Finally, a cooling episode is observed during the Paleogene, which can reflectexhumation processes according with the tectonic structures and the development of the present daytopography YR 2006 FD 2006 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8588 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10272/8588 LA spa DS Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad de Huelva RD 1 jun 2026
