The setting up of Vihuela reservoir in the higher basin has caused a decrease Of the aquifer recharge. In addition, the persistent drought and the increasing exploitation of aquifer resources have produced a fall in piezometric levels accompanied by groundwater quality deterioration. A rise on nitrate concentration and a progression o f saline intrusion are the main consequences o f this 1985-1994 evolutionspaAtribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 3.0 Españahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/Coastal aquiferHydrogeochemistryGroundwater pollutionNitratesDeterioró de la calidad de las aguas subterráneas en el acuífero del Río Vélez en el período 1985-1994 (Málaga, España)Groundwater quality deterioration in the River Vélez aquifer from 1985 to 1994 (Málaga, España)journal article
