This unit is bounded by Miocene low-angle normal faults. The lithostratigraphic sequence of Adra unit includes, from bottom to top: dark schists with garnet, light coloured schists (Palaeozoic), phyllites (Permo-Triassic) and carbonated rocks (upper Triassic). North-vergent recumbent folds have been recognized within the unit. They affect the lithological boundaries, the metamorphic isogrades and the main foliation, this latter formed during a decompression, that is with an extensional character. These data suggest the alternance of contractional and extensional events during the tectonic evolution of the Alpujarride ComplexspaAtribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 3.0 Españahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/Alpujarride complexAdra extensional unitTectonometamorphic evolutionCompression-extension alternanceEvolución tectono-metamórfica de la unidad extensional de Adra (Complejo Alpujárride, Béticas centrales): Resultados preliminaresTectonometamorphic evolution o f the Adra extensional u n it (Alpujárride Complex, central Betics): preliminary resultsjournal articleopen access
