These basins were inverted during the Tertiary giving rise to the Iberian Chain thrust belt. The analysis of a crustal section transverse to the Iberian Chain is presented; this section is based on a gravimetric model, and an area conservation through it is asumed. From this analysis a Mesozoic extension of 47 km and a Tertiary shortening of 75 km is estimatedspaAtribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 3.0 Españahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/Crustal balanceIntraplate deformationMesozoic extensionAlpine compressionWestern MediterraneanIberian ChainExtensión mesozoica e inversión compresiva terciaria en la Cadena Ibérica: aportaciones a partir del análisis de un perfil gravimétricoMesozoic extension and Tertiary compressive inversion in the Iberian Chain: Results from the analysis of a gravity profilejournal articleopen access
