Se han interpretado las principales fallas y discontinuidades en la secuencia sedimentaria plio-cuaternaria, diferenciándose dos unidades sismo-estratigráficas pliocenas y dos cuaternarias. La secuencia suprasal está deformada por sistemas de fallas normales conjugadas, planas, despegadas sobre la sal, orientadas NE-SO y con buzamientos tanto hacia la cuenca (NO) como hacia el continente (SE). El fallamiento se inició hacia el final del Plioceno, teniendo un movimiento mayor, de carácter sin-sedimentario, durante todo el Cuaternario. El fallamiento se produjo a la par que la sal messiniense se deslizaba pendiente abajo en la cuenca, hinchándose en la región distal y fluyendo bajo fallas frágiles plio-cuaternarias, de tipo dominóThe three-dimensional geometry of the structures affecting the suprasalt sequences above the Messinian salt in the Levant Basin (offshore Israel) is reconstructed using a depth-migrated seismic cube. We have interpreted in 3D the main faults affecting the suprasalt sequence, in where two Pliocene and two Quaternary seismic units have been distinguished. The suprasalt deformation is accomplished by NESW trending, conjugate normal faults, with planar fractures detached along the salt-top surface, and dipping both basinwards (NW) and towards the continent (SE). Faulting was initiated towards the end of the Upper Pliocene, with a major syn-sedimentary event occurring throughout the Quaternary.
