Piedades proyectadas y devociones vividas : cofradías y hermandades en la Vicaría de la Puebla de Guzmán (siglos XVI-XVIII)

Abstract

Una valoración del alcance efectivo de la implantación de los ideales tridentinos, en cualquier lugar de la España del Antiguo Régimen, pasa por examinar los medios de adoctrinamiento y las consecuentes formas que adoptaron las vivencias religiosas. De este modo y a tal efecto, pretendemos aquí acercarnos al conocimiento de la realidad asociacionista de la antigua Vicaría de Puebla de Guzmán, entendiendo las cofradías y hermandades como sendas de penetración y materialización, en el ámbito secular, del mensaje religioso oficial; el cual, no obstante, no siempre se comprendió y/o acató en la misma medida.

In order to carry out an assessment of the real extent of the implementation of tridentine ideals, in any place in Early Modern Spain, it has to be taken into account the examination of the means of indoctrination and the resulting forms that religious experiences adopted there. Thus, the current study intends to approach the knowledge of the associationist reality of the old Vicariate of Puebla de Guzmán, from the insight of confraternities and brotherhoods within the secular sphere as paths of penetration and materialization of the official religious message; which, nevertheless, was not always understood and/or complied with the same measure.
