Abstract

The middle Eocene succession of Biscay contains numerous and thick intercalations ofslump-turbidite couplets. They record a simultaneous resedimentation of both deep and shallow water deposits, most probably trigered by contemporary earthquakes in the western Pyrenees. Many of the slump sheets exhibit an imbricated internal structure, which clearly reflects piling up of basinal-derived debris-flows. The attitude of such large-scale imbrications demonstrates a southern transport direction for the debris-flows
