El Patrimonio minero industrial de Tharsis y su repercusión en la comarca del Andévalo Onubense

Abstract

La comarca del Andévalo onubense es la más extensa de las cuatro que componen geográficamente la provincia de Huelva. Al igual que en la cuenca minera de Riotinto, en el Andévalo se ubica la cuenca minera de Tharsis, siendo ambas las principales cuencas de minería metálica de España durante mucho tiempo. De todos es sabido la importancia de la minería metálica de la provincia de Huelva y, su antigua historia datada en más de 5000 años, de ahí que surge la propuesta de declaración BIC en la categoría de sitio histórico de esta cuenca para preservar los elementos patrimoniales ligados a otra gran empresa minera como fue la Tharsis Sulphur & Copper Co. Ltd.

The region of Andévalo is the largest one of those that makes up the province of Huelva geographically speaking. In the same way that in the mining area of Riotinto, the mining area of Tharsis is located in the Andévalo region, being both for a long time the main metallic mining areas in Spain. The metallic mining industry of the province of Huelva and its ancient history that dates back more than 5000 years is very well-known, that is the reason of its proposal to be declared as Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of historical place of this mining area to preserve the revenue from assets attributed to the branch attached to the mining factory Tharsis Sulphur & Copper Co. Ltd.
