Abstract
The objective of this study was to develop a linguistic validation of the Spanish verslon of the Vécu et Santé Per9ue de I'Adolescent (VSP-A) questionnaire in order to apply it in Colombian adolescents. The linguistic validation was developed from the Spanish version (VOE). The process was carried out in three stages: a) agreements with the authors of the origina/ version, b) direct translation, consultations with key ínformants, meetíngs of the research group and classlflcation of equiva/ences, c) cognitive interviews with adolescents of both sexes and different socioeconomic status from Bogota and Barranquílla. The validation followed the standard and adjusted linguistic validation process. During the translation process, among the thírty nine items that form the questionnaire, three were evaluated like problematíc items by the phi/ologíst and two were valued like ¡tems with difficu/t comprehension by the key informants. A first version was e/aborated trom the opinions ot the experts and translators and it was used to realize the cognitive interviews with adolescents. The second version was elaborated trom their valuations. In this version, seven items were tormu/ated Iíke in the VOE, twenty se ven had syntactic and semantic modifications and five had moditications related to cultural questions. Those items that had more problems in the Iinguistic adaptation were included in four dimensions: satisfaction with sexuallife, relations with the hea/th staff, vitality and self-esteem. The Colombian version of the VSP-A can be considered a linguistic equivalent of the VOE and íts psychometric properties should be eva/uated in a pi/ot study.
