La determinación en griego antiguo : el artículo

Abstract

En este trabajo se intenta dar una explicación unitaria de los usos del ar- tículo asignando a éste un solo valor que comprende todos sus liSOS. Las apor- taciones teóricas de la pragmática están en la base de este análisis. ya que per- miten una explicación complexiva del funcionamiento del artículo en griego antiguo. El artículo implica los hechos siguientes: 1) la entidad tksignaela por el sustantivo existe en el universo disl:ursivo que comparten los interlol:utores (referencialidad); 2) esta entidad es accesible, dada. wnocida y única para los interlocutores a partir de determinadas fuentes. Estas fuentes se relacionan con la información que proporcionan o bien la situación extralingüística (informa- ción compartida situacional o genérica). o bien el discurso mismo (informacitín discursiva). La ausencia de artículo implica uno de los hechos siguientes: 1) la realidad designada por el sustantivo existe pero es indeterminada; 2) el sustan- tivo significa una propiedad, BO una entidad, y funciona como atributo.

In the following paper the authoress aims at an explanation of the artide based on one single value which comprchends aH its uses. These sources pcrtain to the informa- tion provided either by the extralinguistic situation (situutional or generic "ha- red information) or the discourse itself (discourse information). The absence 01' the article bears meanings related to the following facts: 1) the entity designed by the noun do es exist but is indefinite; 2) the noun denotes a property, not an entity and it functions as an attribute.
