Las pinturas murales de la capilla de Jesús de Moguer: una obra de Miguel Ollero Márquez

Abstract

La capilla de Jesús fue erigida a finales del siglo XV sobre uno de los puntos más altos de la villa de Moguer. A lo largo de los siglos ha sufrido importantes remodelaciones auspiciadas por algunos indianos como Pedro Gupil de Herrera, pero también por la propia labor de la cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno. En el siglo XX comienza un ambicioso proyecto de adecentamiento y enriquecimiento pictórico ideado por el artista Miguel Ollero Márquez, que incluye el camarín y el presbiterio de la capilla, y que supone uno de los conjuntos murales más asombrosos de la provincia de Huelva.

The chapel of Jesús was erected at the end of the 15th century on one of the highest points in the town of Moguer. Over the centuries it has undergone important renovations sponsored by some Indians such as Pedro Gupil de Herrera, but also by the work of the brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno. In the 20th century, an ambitious pictorial clean-up and enrichment project began, devised by the artist Miguel Ollero Márquez, which includes the camarín and the chancel of the chapel, and which is one of the most amazing mural ensembles in the province of Huelva.
