Abstract
violentos, asesinatos, traiciones, robos,
raptos, violaciones y otras perversidades,
At Rome, the public violence grew as a part of the daily habits of the roman society. Roman state did not develop tools in orden to coertion, so that the protection and self-defense of the eventual victims were competence of the families. Since the myth, the history of the Rome was a succession of violent facts, as murders, treasons, rapes, robberies and other felonies, being the same king Romulus, the conditor, a violent leader. In this paper, we analyse the notion of that popular violence in the classic writers, the function of the custom, the violence of the magistrates, everything in relation with the way of being free, frank and direct, a distinctive qualities what distinguished to the roman people
