Abstract
The study of ports in antiquity is a current field of research today. In this context, in 2017, an interesting and fruitful project was started in the archaeological area of the imperial ports. This research framework is still being developed today through a research agreement signed between the University of Huelva and the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica. This research collaboration has focused its efforts on the lantern quay, or east-west quay, one of the most significant and best preserved port structures in the Portus complex and which is providing important data regarding its construction, diachrony, paleoenvironment, etc. The evolution of the said project up to the present, its initial premises as well as its main lines of research are set out below.
