Visión estructural de la economía mundial en un entorno incierto: entre la desolación y el desafío de la posibilidad

Abstract

Este artículo considera que sólo una visión estructural integral de la economía mundial permite captar, la complejidad del momento que vivimos y plantear con rigor su posible evolución. No pueden conseguirlo ni los análisis parciales, por importante que sea el aspecto elegido, ni los que se centran en la coyuntura, ni los que no son capaces de captar las condiciones y los márgenes de libertad del sistema económico capitalista, ni los que se desorientan al moverse en el eje temporal, en el que hay que gestionar el presente y construir el futuro. La dificultad para la Economía es extrema, pero es el desafío que tiene que afrontar, si quiere cumplir su función. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This article argues that only a comprehensive structural perspective of the global economy enables us to grasp the complexity of the current moment and to rigorously consider its potential evolution. Neither partial analyses—regardless of the importance of the specific aspect chosen—nor those focused solely on short-term developments, nor those unable to understand the constraints and degrees of freedom within the capitalist economic system, nor those that become disoriented when navigating the temporal dimension—where the present must be managed while the future is built—can achieve this. The challenge for economics is immense, but it is a challenge the discipline must confront if it is to fulfill its purpose.
