La investigación en comunicación en Latinoamérica: Una aproximación histórica (1950-2016)

Abstract

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo realizar un recorrido cronológico acerca de la investigación en Comunicación en Latinoamérica, identificando sus principales hitos y precisando si epistemológicamente ha existido una Escuela Latinoamericana de Comunicación. El método utilizado es la revisión crítica de literatura académica, organizando los aportes en decenios estructurados y el cotejo de los hallazgos con relación a otros estudios de la materia. Los principales resultados destacan que ha habido períodos de desarrollo epistemológico independiente, aun cuando no existe uniformidad en la producción y difusión científica. Asimismo se destaca el papel integrador que han tenido los esfuerzos asociativos de la investigación latinoamericana.

The current research has as main objective conduct a chronological overview on communication research in Latin America, identifying key milestones and stating whether epistemologically has been a “Latin American School of Communication” The approach used is the critical review of academic literature, organizing structured contributions in decades and collating findings in relation to other research of matter. The main results of the study emphasize that there have been periods of independent epistemological development, even though there is no standardization in production and scientific diffusion. The integrative role played associational efforts of Latin American research also highlights. Keyword: Communication; Research; Epistemology; Evolution; Latin America.
