La dimensión cultural en el trabajo social con población inmigrante : una perspectiva desde la antropología social

Abstract

La idea de integración sociocultural ha sido considerada principio rector del trabajo social con población inmigrante extranjera. En las intervenciones con fines integradores, la mediación intercultural constituye una de las metodologías de trabajo social con inmigrantes. Por otra parte, en sus actuaciones, los agentes de intervención configuran una determinada construcción sociocultural del inmigrante. En el presente artículo, desde la óptica de la Antropología Social, nos centramos en esos tres puntos ( integración, mediación intercultural y construcción del Otro), presentes en las intrvenciones sociales con inmigrantes, para analizar un conjunto de problemáticas en las que cobra relevancia la dimensión cultural, con la intención de cuestionar los planteamientos de cariz culturalista.

The idea of sociocultural integration has been considered as a principle-guide of social work with foreign immigrant population. In the interventions with integrative ends, the inter-cultural mediation constitutes one of the methodologies for social work with the immigrants. On the other hand, in their performances, the intervention agents configure a certain sociocultural construction of immigrant. In this article, three points are fosused from the optics of Social Anthropology (integration, inter-cultural mediation and construction of the Other one). Those points are considered in social interventions with the immigrants, in order to analyze the problems where the cultural dimension takes relevance, so that the positions of culturalism may be questioned
