Abstract
In spite of the fact that the factory of “El Pedroso” contributed in a decisive way to the hegemony of the Andalusian foundries during more than thirty years, the loss of their files has done that it is one of the factories least known about all those they worked in Spain in the middle of the 19th century. Nevertheless, the correspondence between Elorza and the count of Villafuertes, the contracts of work found in the Notarial Protocols Archive of Cazalla de la Sierra, and the new documents appeared in their parochial Archive, they give us enough information to know how their activity was during the so-called “Period Elorza”. Because of the same documents we know how the seasonal droughts, the malaria, the lack of mineral coal and of skilled workmen had an influence on the failure of such an ambitious project.
