Geolingüística del uso de habemos existencial en el español de América

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo es mostrar la extensión del uso de haber concordado en primera persona del plural con valor existencial en el español de América. La metodología empleada para ello ha sido la de la geografía lingüística. Los datos analizados provienen de los diferentes títulos de la colección El español en América, iniciada por Manuel Alvar (1923-2001). En concreto, se ha estudiado dicha realidad en el sur de los Estados Unidos, en la República Dominicana, en México, en Venezuela, en Paraguay, en Argentina, en Uruguay y en Chile. Los resultados ofrecen una distribución compleja, marcada por la convivencia de habemos con formas normativas, con cierto peso también de las variables sociales (sexo, edad y nivel de instrucción).

The objective of this article is to show the extent of the use of haber agreed in the first-person plural with existential value in American Spanish. The methodology used for this has been that of linguistic geography. The data analyzed comes from the different titles of the collection El español en América, started by Manuel Alvar (1923-2001). Specifically, this reality has been studied in the south of the United States, in the Dominican Republic, in Mexico, in Venezuela, in Paraguay, in Argentina, in Uruguay and in Chile. The results offer a complex distribution, marked by the coexistence of habemos with normative forms, with a certain weight also of social variables (sex, age and level of education).
