Abstract
El Mahabharata es la historia de un doble exterminio masivo de guerreros que da lugar a una era nueva y peor que la anterior. Este trabajo toma como punto de partida el Canto de las Mujeres, su libro 11°, para situar la cuestión de los diferentes niveles de explicación de la masacre, de los problemas que plantea sobre el papel de los seres humanos ante el plan divino de exterminio, y el de las divinidades, en particular Krsna. Se recalca en este contexto el uso por los autores de la obra de las palabras de Gándhári y su maldición a Krsna. Se defiende que la presentación y desarrollo de todo este conjunto de temas en la obra es consistente con una concepción unitaria de la obra al estilo de la defendida por A. Hiltebeitel
The Mahabharata is the story of a massive warrior destruction resulting in a new and worse age. This paper takes as its starting point the Song of the Women, its book 11th, to raise the issues of the different levels of explanation of the slaughter, of the problems on the role of human beings in the context of the divine plan of ex¬termination, and of the role of divinities, particularly Krsna. The use of Gandhari’s voice and his curse on Krsna by the authors of the Mahabharata is emphasized. Their approaches to this set of issues are consis¬tent with a unitary interpretation of the work as advocated by A. Hiltebeitel
