La emigración de españoles al extranjero (2002-2011): dimensiones y características geodemográficas

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es ampliar el conocimiento de las dimensiones y características geodemográficas de la emigración de españoles al extranjero que se produce entre 2002 y 2011. Las principales fuentes utilizadas son las estadísticas de emigración española que publica el Instituto Nacional de Estadística de España, las estadísticas de inmigración española de los países receptores y una encuesta sobre la situación de los españoles en el extranjero realizada en 2012. Los principales hallazgos y conclusiones de este trabajo son: la magnitud del flujo es muy superior al que indican las estadísticas españolas, en torno al doble; las mujeres, los jóvenes y los nacidos en el extranjero tienen un singular protagonismo en este proceso; las principales áreas de origen de los emigrados son las dos grandes aglomeraciones urbanas españolas (Madrid y Barcelona); Europa occidental y Latinoamérica son las principales áreas de destino y destaca como foco receptor Reino Unido.

The aim of this work is extended the knowledge of the geo-demographic dimensions and characteristics of the emigration of Spanish abroad that takes place between 2002 and 2011. The principal sources used are the statistics of Spanish emigration that publishes the National Institute of Statistics of Spain, the statistics of Spanish immigration of the countries recipients and a survey about the situation of the Spanish abroad realized in 2012. The principal findings and conclusions of this work are: the magnitude of the flow is very superior to the one that the Spanish statistics indicate, concerning the double; the women, the young persons and born abroad have a singular leadership in this process; the principal areas of origin of emigres are both big urban Spanish agglomerations (Madrid and Barcelona); western Europe and Latin America are the principal areas of destination, emphasizing as area recipient the United Kingdom.
