El apocalipsis de Martín de Tours. Nerón y el Anticristo como protagonistas del fin del mundo

Abstract

El judaísmo y el cristianismo han legado escritos pertenecientes al género apocalíptico, interesantes para el conocimiento de las ideas sobre el fin del mundo y sobre las expectativas de futuro que judíos y cristianos albergaban en los momentos más críticos de su existencia. Sin embargo, los temas y motivos de las obras características de este género se encuentran en otros escritos que, a priori, no podrían ser clasificados como “apocalipsis”. El texto de Sulpicio Severo sobre el pensamiento apocalíptico de Martin de Tours se ha convertido en objeto de debate por los múltiples ejemplos literarios que elevan a Nerón a una categoría escatológica y lo asocian al Anticristo. En el presente trabajo se compara el contenido de las ideas de Martín con otros textos de semejante contenido para demostrar si las ideas de Martín pueden definirse como una reutilización o destacan por su originalidad

Judaism and Christianity have left writings belonging to the apocalyptic genre, interesting for the knowledge of ideas about the end of the world and especially of future expectations that Jews and Christians housed in the most critical moments of their existence. However, the themes and motifs of the examples of this genre features found in other writings that could not be classified as "apocalyp- se”. The text of Sulpicius Severus about apocalyptic thought of Martin of Tours has become the subject of debate for the many literary examples that elevate Nero an eschatological category and associated with the Antichrist. This paper compares the content of the ideas of Martin with other texts such content to show whether the ideas of Martin can be defined as either reuse or by their originality
