Abstract
En Santiago del Estero, Argentina, 10 procedencias
de Eucalyptus camaldulensis establecidas en un
ensayo genético, mostraron buenos valores de
crecimiento y forma para las condiciones ecológicas
locales.
rosáceo castaño rosáceo a rojizo y pardos.
variable estudiada.
10 provenances trials of E. camaldulensis established in a genetic trial in Santiago del Estero Argentina reported good growth and form values for the local ecological conditions. In order to know its potential as a solid use, it is necessary to determine the quality parameters of its wood. The main objetives of this study were to determine some macroscopic characters in the 40 superior ten years old trees, and to determine the probable correlation between radial growth traits and heartwood radio and sapwood width. To predict heartwood radio and sapwood width by means of alometric variables of easy measurement.Sample wood discs were taken at breast heigt, and radio of heartwood, radio under bark, growth rings width and sapwood width were measured. The sapwood– heartwood boundarywas were variable: sharp colour difference or gradual difference in colour. In ring count basis the sapwood thicknesses is three. The best predictor of the heartwood radio is the radio without bark.Hearthwood radius increased linearly with increasing DBH and in minor proportion with the thickness of the growth rings. The sapwood width and bark width did not depend on any of the variables studied
