Abstract
Recent tectonic deformations have been recognized in the western sector of the Guadalaquivir basin by geomorphological and structural methods. The detailed studies show a regional N-S compressive stress along upper Pliocene? and lower Pleistocene. A later cxtcnsional tectonic, at least during a part of the Quaternary time, gave rise to morphological steps and several aligniments in the landscape
