Abstract

From this perspective, the categorization of older people and the transformation derived from functions (generally negative) in the form of private experiences can have consequences on the behavior of the aging person and their environment. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is proposed as an intervention strategy for the cognitive fusion of negative stereotypes and prejudices and experiential avoidance, in order to reduce self-stigma and internalized discomfort
