Los cristianos ante la familia : renuncia o reafirmación

Abstract

El cristianismo mantuvo siempre en el plano teórico, el rechazo inicial a las ataduras de la institución familiar, primero como condición indispensable para ser cristiano, y después para integrar la minoría de los perfectos cristianos. En este contexto, el ascetismo era una opción importante, de modo especial para las mujeres. Pero, paradójicamente, la Iglesia aprovechó sus vínculos para extenderse y afianzarse en una sociedad que consentía en arriesgar a sus mujeres en la nueva religión, con la seguridad de que, con ello, no peligraban, sino que se reafirmaban, sus estructuras patriarcales._______________________________Christianity always maintained, at a theoretical level, the initial rejection of the ties of the family institution, first as the essential condition to be a Christian, then to become part of the minority of the perfect. In this context asceticism was a very important option, especially for women. But, paradoxically, the Church used the family bonds to extend and consolidate its position in a society which accepted risking its women to the new religion, in the knowledge that by this means they were not endangering, but reinforcing, patriarchal structures.
