Los sacerdotes que pasaron el abajamiento de la cárcel por denunciar los abusos de la dictadura franquista en España frente a los derechos humanos y la dignidad de los hombres y mujeres, especialmente los trabajadores en situaciones muy precaria, fueron muy significativos y significantes. Entre estos sacerdotes podemos destacar al ex jesuita Francisco García Salve y al sacerdote diocesano en Madrid Mariano Gamo en el madrileño barrio de Moratalaz, entre otros.
