Abstract
Study and annotation of Quevedo´s ballad “Echando verbos y nombres”, whose main character is a frequent type in the satirical and burlesque works of don Francisco: the voluntary cuckold. Following closely the literary tradition of encomium cornuum, this poem presents ironically the merits of the cuckold, like a parody of legal forms to argue in his favour. The burlesque style of the ballad is based on the breaking of clichés, slang vocabulary, witty sayings and plays on words.
