Mater Minerva: Nuevas figurillas de terracota procedentes del Foro de Arucci (Aroche, Huelva)

Abstract

El hallazgo de una nueva terracota, identificada como Minerva, procedente de las capillas de culto del foro de Arucci viene a sumarse a toda una serie de figurillas femeninas ya existentes, algunas de las cuales son presentadas nuevamente en este trabajo también como representaciones de la misma diosa. El contexto en el que aparecen, claramente cultual con dedicaciones a las matres, así como los paralelos para este tipo de objetos tanto en la Bética como fundamentalmente en la Gallia, nos lleva a interpretarlos como exvotos relacionados con la fertilidad, fecundidad y protección infantil muy en sintonía con ese tipo de advocaciones propias de la diosa.

The finding of a new terracotta, identified as Minerva, proceeding from the sacella of Arucci’s forum comes to add to the whole series of feminine already existing figurines, some of which are presented again in this work also as representations of the same goddess. The context in which they appear, clearly cultual with dedications to the matres, as well as the parallel ones for this type of objects so much in the Baetica as fundamentally in the Gallia, leads us to interpreting it as an ex-vote related to the fertility, fecundity and infantile protection very in tuning in with this type of dedications of the goddess
