Las sibilantes españolas en un corpus epistolar de comerciantes neerlandeses en la segunda mitad del siglo XVII

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza la variación que se ha constatado en la representación gráfica de las sibilantes españolas en un corpus epistolar comercial compuesto por 131 cartas autógrafas escritas en español por cuatro comerciantes neerlandeses entre 1669 y 1677. En concreto, se pretende examinar si los autores multilingües de las cartas manejaban una norma distinguidora o no distinguidora, así como los procesos que influyeron en esta selección y cómo adquirieron esta norma. Para poder determinar estas cuestiones, los datos del corpus epistolar se han contrastado con los del Corpus diacrónico del español (CORDE). Se concluye que los autores manejaban el sistema no distinguidor seseante y que en esta selección habrían influido factores tanto internos o cognitivos como externos o sociolingüísticos.

This article analyzes the variation found in the graphic representation of Spanish sibilants in a commercial letter corpus composed of 131 letters written in Spanish by four Dutch merchants between 1669 and 1677. Specifically, the objective of this study is to examine whether the multilingual authors of the letters in question employed sibilant neutralization and, if so, to elucidate the processes that influenced this selection and how they acquired this norm. In order to clarify these questions, the data of the letter corpus have been compared with those of CORDE corpus. It is concluded that the authors used a system with sibilant neutralization and that both internal or cognitive factors and external or sociolinguistic factors would have influenced this selection.
