Abstract
Este artigo historiográfico tem como objecto de investigação a migração de andaluzes
para o Algarve, entre c. 1810 e 1914. Numa
primeira parte aborda-se as principais causas e
factores migratórios, assim como identifica-se
os principais municípios de origem e de destino
desses emigrantes. Averigua-se quais foram as
décadas em que esses fluxos migratórios mais se
intensificaram. Numa segunda parte segue-se o
rastro a esses emigrantes andaluzes radicados no
Algarve, identificando quais os negócios e as
indústrias a que mais se dedicaram nos concelhos de Loulé e de Vila Real de Santo António
(V.R.S.A., daqui em diante), assim como quais
foram as inovações tecnológicas que importaram e implementaram na região, contribuindo,
dessa forma, para a revolução industrial algarvia
de finais do século XIX. Analisa-se, igualmente,
quais os seus estatutos sócio-económico e sócio-
-político nas duas colónias de andaluzes a residir
nos concelhos de Loulé e de V.R.S.A
This historiographical article focuses on the migration of Andalusians to the Algarve, between c. 1810 and 1914. In the first part, the main causes and migratory factors are addressed, as well as the main municipalities of origin and destination of these emigrants are identified. It is also attempted to find out which were the decades in which these migratory flows intensified the most. In a second part, the trail of these Andalusian emigrants living in the Algarve is followed, identifying which businesses and industries were most dedicated to in the municipalities of Loulé and V.R.S.A., as well as the technological innovations they imported and implemented in the region, thus contributing to the Algarve industrial revolution of the late 19th century. It also analyzes their socio-economic and socio-political status in the two Andalusian colonies in the municipalities of Loulé and V.R.S.A
