El castillo de Maribarba (Aroche, Huelva) y la política de Roma en la Baeturia

Abstract

En este trabajo se estudia el asen ta mien to prerromano de Castillo de Maribarba (Aroche, Huelva), cuyos materiales indican su abandono en los comienzos del siglo I a.C. Se propone que su po bla ción fue trasladada por Roma a un nuevo asentamiento, política que tiene otros paralelos en el Suroeste de la Pe nín su la Ibérica.

In this paper we study the preroman settlement of Castillo de Maribarba (Aroche, Huelva, SW of Spain), whose archaeological material shows depopulation in the beginning of the I Century B.C., similar to other preroman settlements in the Baeturia Celtica. This depopulation was caused by the roman policy of moving populations into new nucleus which helped in the romanization of the region.
