Mitrídates como pretexto. Sila y la financiación de la campaña de Italia

Abstract

La primera Guerra Mitridática fue el instrumento de Sila para buscar el dinero que necesitaba para su guerra contra los marianos, y recuperar el poder en Roma. Esta idea armonizaba con la visión que la oligarquía romana tenía sobre Oriente y Asia, en particular, alimentada por las noticias y contactos entre ambas regiones y Roma, y las ambiciones políticas del personaje.

The First Mithridatic War were the Sulla’s way in order to look for the money he needs to make the war to the followers of C. Marius in Italy, and to recover the power at Rome. This project was agreed with the sight of the roman oligarchy about Orient and, in particular, about Asia, and it was the result of the reports and connections between both regions and Rome, and the political claims of that personage.
