Abstract

Ars 2.16; Fast. 4.195-6.
Stes. fr. 327 F. contains an invocation to the Muse for her to sing the love story between a boy and a girl. The last section of v. 1 has serious corruption problems. Taking up the meaning of a proposal by Meineke, this contribution discusses the hypothesis that the Muse invoked was Erato and that the corrupt text may hide an adjective capable of qualifying the Muse: in this case a plausible correction could be ἐρατώνυμος. The reference to Erato as Muse “with an amiable name” would be supported by A. R. 3.5; Ov. Ars 2.16; Fast. 4.195-6.
