Abstract
Within the framework of the History of the Church, a field that is currently displaced from the latest historiographic trends, after an introduction resuming the most important types of the document known as “bula”, we present several examples of this document, which compilates a list of milestones on the ecclesiastical history of Huelva that allows us to visualize the evolution of the cult in the Huelva province, through the analysis of three pontifical documents. The oldest one, from 1516, reveals an authorization for masses in various hermitages located in Huelva; and in the 20th century, one of the two remaining bulls proclaims the foundation of the diocese of Huelva in 1953; and the other one, the appointment of the patron figure of the city of Huelva, the “Virgen de la Cinta”, in 1964
