Nuevas formas familiares

Abstract

Las estructuras familiares se han transformado desde la hegemonía de la familia tradicional hacia la diversidad representada por las denominadas nuevas formas familiares. El presente análisis parte del estudio de las características de estas familias que, a pesar de llamarse nuevas, ya existían en otras sociedades. Desde luego no es su propia existencia lo que justifica la novedad, sino una serie de características asociadas en la actualidad a estas familias. Una vez conocidos estos rasgos, el trabajo muestra el catálogo básico de nuevas formas familiares: familias monoparentales, familias compuestas y parejas de hecho. De cada una ellas aparecen las definiciones y datos generales que permiten comprender su presencia en las sociedades contemporáneas. La intervención en estas familias desde los profesionales y las instituciones sólo es posible partiendo de un conocimiento de su realidad social, objetivo último de este artículo.

The family structures have been transformed from the hegemony of the traditional family toward the diversity represented by those denominated new family forms. The present analysis leaves from the study of the characteristics of these families, wich had already existed in other societies in spite of being called new. Certainly it is not their own existence what justifies newness, but a series of characteristics nowadays associated to these families. Once known these features, the work shows the basic catalogue in new family forms: one-parent families, compound families and cohabitation. For each one of them, the definitions and general data that allow to understand their presence in the contemporary societies appear. The intervention in these families from the professionals and the institutions is only possible with the knowledge of its social reality wich is the aim of this article
