El territorio de la frontera luso-andaluza : una geometría variable

Abstract

La frontera hispano-portuguesa que discurre entre la región del Algarve, el Baixo Alentejo y la provincia de Huelva ha dividido comunidades de estructuras territoriales similares, a las que, acorde a la desactivación de la frontera, se les ha aplicado políticas territoriales y de cooperación que en términos generales no han servido ni para su desarrollo ni para el mantenimiento de su población. En este trabajo se pretende, principalmente, caracterizar los elementos estructurantes de este espacio fronterizo, los cuales se abordarán desde diversos análisis escalares, desde la Eurorregión Alentejo-Algarve-Andalucía hasta los municipios colindantes con el límite estatal.

The Spanish-Portuguese border that runs between the region of Algarve, the Baixo Alentejo and the province of Huelva has divided communities of similar territorial structures, which, according to the deactivation of the boundary, have been applied territorial and cooperation policies which in general failed largely to achieve development or maintain their population. This paper aim to characterize the structuring elements of this borderland, which will be addressed from various scalar analyses, from the Euroregion Algarve-Alentejo-Andalusia to the municipalities closely linked with the boundary.
