Sobre José María Arguedas y Vikram Chandra : no, no somos unos aculturados

Abstract

Bucear en el ámbito de la literatura comparada es, ante todo, un ejercicio de libertad. Y esa sensación se vuelve más plena cuando el corpus de trabajo está formado por material intercultural. En este artículo se leen, de manera vertical y no exhaustiva, novelas de dos autores alejados tanto en el tiempo como en el espacio: Los ríos Profundos (1958), del peruano José María Arguedas, y Red Earth and Pouring Rain (1995), del indio Vikram Chandra. Los principios de comparabilidad que sustentan nuestra propuesta de análisis ahondan en el hecho de que ambos son narradores bilingües, clue viven y crean en el conflictivo intersticio entre culturas enfrentadas por complejas relaciones de poder. Los suyas son, ante todo, narrativas de resistencia cultural, de transculturación, de rechazo a las polarizaciones, de supervivencia emocional.__________________________________Delving into the field of comparative literature is, above all, an act of freedom. And this feeling becomes deeper when the work examined is intercultural. In this paper we seek to read, on a vertical axis and with no exhaustive aims, the novels of two authors, different both in time and space: Los ríos profundos (1958), by the Peruvian fosé María Arguedas, and Red Earth and Pouring Rain (1995), by the Indian Vikram Chandra. The adopted principles of comparison highlight the fact that both are bilingual writers who live and create in the conflictive zone linking cultures opposed by complex power relations. Their narratives are, above all, discourses of cultural resistance, transculturation, avoidance of polarization, emotional survival.
