Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to examine the effect of a didactic unit of adapted sport on the attitudes towards disability in Physical Education and social and civic competence in primary education students, using the Teaching Game for Understanding. Twenty-eight students of sixth of Primary Education took part of this study. Two instruments were used for the analysis: “Attitudes towards Students with Disabilities in Physical Education” (EAADEF) (Íñiguez-Santiago, Férriz, Martínez-Galindo, Cebrián-Sánchez & Reina, 2017) and the subscales of “values” and “social awareness” of Robles-Rodríguez, Abad- Robles, Giménez y Benito-Peinado (2017). The results show that the participating students improve their attitudes towards disability and that through this can be improved aspects related with this competence. The results imply that the inclusion of adapted sport in physical education in primary school is advisable, especially in relation to the improvement of social and civic competence
