El progreso social en la Costa Rica del siglo XXI. El desvanecimiento del "Sueño Tico"

Abstract

Se examina el desvanecimiento durante el siglo XXI del "sueño tico", como constructo del progreso social costarricense. Se identifican su dimensión objetiva, a través de la distribución del ingreso, y su dimensión subjetiva, a través de la percepción del bienestar. Además, se describe su origen, desde la macroeconomía del crecimiento y la macroeconomía y economía política de la distribución del ingreso. Finalmente, se describen sus impactos políticos, desde la sociología política del bienestar.The fading of the "Tico dream" as a construct of Costa Rican social progress during the 21st Century is examined. Its objective dimension is identified through the distribution of income, and its subjective dimension, through the perception of well-being. Furthermore, its origin is described in terms of the macroeconomics of growth and the macroeconomics and political economy of income distribution. Finally, its political impacts are described, in terms of the political sociology of welfare.
