The aim of this paper is to contribute to the diffusion of a new discipline related to the Experimental and Natural Sciences applied to Cultural Heritage. Special emphasis is made on the contribution of Mineralogy to this subject along with a critical view of the current situation in this field o f research both in Spain and most European countries
