Abstract
El siglo XIX es considerado un momento
clave en el desarrollo de diversos ámbitos
de la sociedad, como la educación o las
comunicaciones. Se produce un cambio en la
concepción de la sanidad, la higiene y otros
factores que se relacionan con la salud y la
mortalidad. Asimismo, Huelva como capital,
por sus características geográficas y por el
contexto, sufrió este mismo proceso con
algunas características propias. El objetivo es
analizar cuál era la situación higiénico-sanitaria
en esta ciudad durante los últimos dos tercios
del siglo XIX, así como conocer los problemas a
los que se tuvo que hacer frente y de qué manera
se adoptaron soluciones, a través del análisis de
las actas capitulares del Archivo Histórico del
Ayuntamiento onubense. La salud y la higiene
tuvieron un papel protagonista a partir de 1850,
y en Huelva los esfuerzos fueron destinados al
control de las epidemias, la renovación de la
sanidad y de la beneficencia
The 19th century is considered a key moment in the development of various areas of society, such as education and communications. There was a change in the conception of sanitation, hygiene and other factors related to health and mortality. Likewise, Huelva as a capital city, due to its geographical characteristics and context, underwent this same process with some characteristics of its own. The objective is to analyze the hygienic-sanitary situation in this city during the last two thirds of the 19th century, as well as to know the problems that had to be faced and how solutions were adopted, through the analysis of the chapter minutes of the Historical Archive of the City Council. Health and hygiene played a leading role from 1850 onwards, and in Huelva the efforts were aimed at the control of epidemics, the renovation of sanitation and charity
