Abstract
El objetivo del presente estudio es determinar la calidad de vida en personas con diag-
nóstico de artritis reumatoide en una muestra de pacientes colombianos. Se evaluaron
124 participantes (110 mujeres y 14 hombres) con diagnóstico de artritis reumatoide
acorde a los criterios del Colegio Americano de Reumatología (Arnett, 1987). Los resul-
tados obtenidos fueron comparados con la información aportada por un estudio similar
realizado en Estados Unidos. La medición de la calidad de vida se hizo mediante la
versión española del cuestionario de Calidad de Vida en la Artritis (QOL-RA) de Danao,
Padilla y Jonson (2001). El análisis de la fiabilidad de la escala indico un alfa de Cronbach
de 0,88; los pacientes Colombianos con Artritis Reumatoide tuvieron una mejor calidad
de vida en todas las dimensiones del QOL-RA, en comparación con los participantes de
Estados Unidos tanto de origen anglosajón como latinoamericano que participaron en la
validación original de la escala

The results were compared with the information in a similar research carried out in the United States. The Quality of life were measured through Spanish version of the Quality of Life Questionaire (QOL-RA) (Danao, Padilla, & Jonson, 2001). Colombian patients whith Rheumatoid Arthritis had a better quality of life in all QOL-RA dimensions compared with the Unided States patiens who participated in the original test application in American and Latinoamerican participants.
