The isotopic features of lacustrine carbonates from three Tertiary basins of Spain are compared. In the Campins and Bicorp basins the 8’3C and 8wO values of the lacustrine carbonates display different clusters that are related to the carbonate mineralogy. The stable isotope data of the primary carbonate minerals of Campins and Bicorp basins (taking into account the normalization of the dolomite with respect to calcite) show an approximate covariance trend between 8'3C and 8wO, suggesting that the lacustrine carbonates were formed in closed basins. The preliminary data for the Rubielos de Mora basin does not show differential clustering and there is no correlation between the main three carbonate minerals (calcite, Mg-calcite and aragonite) and the evaporation degree deduced from the 8,sO valueses_ES
