Abstract
Young people in Latin America have serious difficulties integrating into the labor market. The youth unemployment rate and informality are very high. Research on this topic are scarce, focused on supply (human capital) and inconclusive, especially in a context of high labor informality, as is the case in Latin America. Therefore, this article seeks to contribute to the debate on youth unemployment in Latin America, estimating the main characteristics of the phenomenon (probit), as well as the determinants of youth unemployment duration (Kaplan Meier model) in Ecuador, and the role played by informality
