Abstract

The teaching of reading is crucial for academic and personal development of everyone. It is not enough to know how to read, but it is necessary to enjoy the act of reading. Encouraging a reading habit means reading regularly and for pleasure. However, stimulating reading, especially among young people, is a challenge due to the lack of interest. This article reviews studies that connect the promotion of reading with sport as a motivational tool. A systematic review was conducted using the PRISMA methodology, identifying and analysing relevant research. Although few studies were found, the results suggest that integrating sport with reading can increase reading interest and skills. It is recommended to conduct longitudinal research with larger samples and standardise methodologies to better assess the impact of these programmes. In conclusion, it is essential to continue exploring this intersection between sport and reading in order to maximise its potential.
