Abstract
This article describes the development and evaluation of an intergenerational teaching-learning experience to bring awareness of environmental issues, taking the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a frame of reference. Besides the description of this experience, students' engagement is analyzed as the object of this study. In addition, it observes its impact on student performance and learning. The main theme around all the programmed activities is recycling, which is considered fundamental as the backbone of content that fosters critical thinking. In this way, a Service-Learning project has been set up. It has served to work by projects in Primary Education and to carry out service that reverts in the school dynamics itself. As stated by the participants, this experience has been evaluated as very enriching. However, difficulties have arisen during its development, which were analyzed to improve it on future occasions. Finally, it is observed that the learning process improves when the students learn to search and coordinate efforts to reach agreements after assuming responsibility for the training of others.
