Gafas inteligentes con IA para el envejecimiento activo: Una revisión exploratoria

Abstract

El uso cotidiano de tecnologías digitales está transformando la vida diaria de las personas mayores. Entre estas tecnologías, las gafas inteligentes con Inteligencia Artificial destacan por sus múltiples aplicaciones para facilitar la autonomía funcional. Esta revisión de alcance examina la evidencia científica de los beneficios y desafíos que plantea su uso. Siguiendo las directrices de la Declaración PRISMA, se realizaron búsquedas en las bases de datos Web of Science y Scopus, identificando nueve estudios relevantes. Las investigaciones muestran que las gafas inteligentes y tecnologías asociadas son prometedoras en entornos cotidianos y médicos, mejorando la independencia, seguridad y atención de las personas mayores. Sin embargo, se identifican diversas cuestiones por resolver, como problemas técnicos y de infraestructura, así como desafíos sobre la privacidad y aceptación por parte de personas usuarias. Se subraya la necesidad de más investigación y formación para superar estos obstáculos y aprovechar plenamente el potencial de estas tecnologías. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The everyday use of digital technologies is transforming the daily lives of older adults. Among these technologies, smart glasses with AI stand out for their multiple applications in facilitating functional autonomy. This scoping review examines the scientific evidence on the benefits and challenges of their use. Following the guidelines of the PRISMA Declaration, searches were conducted in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, identifying nine relevant studies. The research shows that smart glasses and associated technologies are promising in both everyday and clinical, improving the independence, safety, and care of older adults. However, several challenges are identified, such as the technical and infrastructure issues, as well as privacy and user acceptance concerns. The need for further research and training is emphasised to overcome these obstacles and fully harness the potential of these technologies.
