Abstract
Introducción: Burnout es un síndrome caracterizado por el agotamiento físico y emocional enmarcado en una despersonalización y un bajo sentido de realización profesional. También es considerada como una epidemia que ha ido en aumento entre los y las estudiantes y profesionales.
Objetivo: Determinar la relación del síndrome de Burnout en el rendimiento académico de estudiantes universitarios.
Método: Se realizó una búsqueda de literatura electrónica a través de cuatro bases de datos: Science Direct, PsycInfo, Web of Science y Pub-med.
Resultados: Se encontraron 10 trabajos que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión. En 9 trabajos los resultados mostraron que hay una relación inversa entre burnout y rendimiento académico en estudiantes universitarios.
Discusión: La investigación sobre síndrome de burnout en estudiantes no se ha tratado con la misma importancia que el síndrome de burnout en trabajadores de diversas áreas.
Conclusión: El diagnóstico temprano y la intervención adecuada permitirán disminuir los niveles de burnout y mejorar el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes universitarios.

Burnout is a syndrome characterized by physical and emotional exhaustion framed by depersonalization and a low sense of professional accomplishment. It is also considered an epidemic that has been increasing among students and professionals. Objective: To determine the relationship between burnout syndrome and the academic performance of university students. Method: An electronic literature search was conducted through four databases: Science Direct, PsycInfo, Web of Science, and PubMed. Results: 10 studies were found that met the inclusion criteria. In 9 studies, the results showed that there is an inverse relationship between burnout and academic performance in university students. Discussion: Research on burnout syndrome in students has not been treated with the same importance as burnout syndrome in workers from various fields. Conclusion: Early diagnosis and appropriate intervention will allow a reduction in burnout levels and improvement in the academic performance of university students.
